Study group meetings
This group is now closed to new members until January. The topic of study this year is “Rugs and Rug Weaves”. Meetings are held from 10:00am – 12:00; usually on the third Thursday of the month in various locations.
Crochet button necklace
You knew that D'Elin, our crochet jewelry expert, had more than one trick up her sleeve? She taught some of us an easy version of a crochet button necklace at the Saturday 24th September 2016 meeting. Buttons can be stacked, but hang from a thick central chain as dangles. Her pattern has long and short variations.
Every year guild members can participate in a new challenge, and present the results all together at the Guild Picnic in June. The challenge this time is to weave something in Complementary Plain Weave.
Congratulations to Becky Elwood, Patricia Martin and Heather Drake for another prize winning display at this summer's State Fair in Paso Robles. Thanks to everyone who entered their items in the fair this year. Guild members were awarded MANY ribbons and prizes – congratulations to all you winners out there.
Village Spinners is closing
VILLAGE SPINNING AND WEAVING IS CLOSING!
John & Marsha will be closing their retail store and transitioning into retirement in the coming months. They are
currently anticipating keeping a very pared-down website after the transition. Theywill be reducing inventory with discounts ranging from 25% to 70% (Ashford and Lendrum spinning wheels are not included in this sale). There is too much to change on the website so the sale is limited to walk-in and phone orders (shipping and insurance will be added to phone orders). All sales arefinal.
They ask that you use up any credits or gift certificates as soon as possible.
Sign up for our annual Sheep to Shawl!
CELEBRATE NATIONAL WEAVING & SPINNING WEEK
Sheep to Shawl
We will be having our yearly Sheep to Shawl event the first weekend of October. The venue is Dinosaur Park in Shell Beach. come visit our booth on Sunday, October 2, 2016, 11am to 4pm.
This is not a competitive event, we arrive in the morning with a loom already warped, and we spin the weft and weave the shawl during the day. We also have some weaving-related activities for children, and we raffle off the shawl we made last year. Were you thinking of joining the guild? Come meet us!
Rigid Heddle Special Interest Group (SIG) ~ meetings are the 2nd Tues. of the month, from 1-3pm at the Strawbale Barn. Spinners staying on can bring a sack lunch.
