“There are happy rigid heddle weavers on the central coast of California! Our group is part of the Central Coast Weavers Guild. We number about 25, with attendance at monthly meetings averaging about a dozen. We use all manner and size of rigid heddle looms and we love them for their versatility, portability, ease of use and just plain fun. This group is responsible for bringing the popularity of the rigid heddle experience to the forefront in our Guild.

“At our gatherings, we share our weavings, try new techniques, and enjoy learning from one another. Rigid heddle weaving is not our only interest by far. We are floor loom and tapestry weavers, spinners, dyers, knitters, crocheters, and seamstresses. There is no shortage of talent, experience and ideas when we get together.

“This past year we had sessions on such topics as draft reading, pick-up techniques, double weave, color and design, and natural dyes, to name a few. Our rigid heddle weavers produce scarves, table runners, purses, bathmats, pillow covers, wall hangings and more.

“If you’re in the area and want to experience the joys of weaving, we’d love to have you join us. Visit us on Facebook @ Central Coast Weavers.”
