A Zoom invitation will be sent to all members a few days before the meeting.  Our program will be “COTTON FROM FIELD TO LOOM” presented remotely by Joan Ruane.  She will tell us all about cotton\, from harvesting cotton\, ginning\, classification\, and processing lint into sliver to making yarn. Joan will also discuss weaving and knitting with handspun cotton and show photos of projects woven with spun cotton. We will have a brief business meeting\, an in person raffle and show and tell.  Members are encouraged to submit photos of their show and tell items to Wendy-Marie ahead of time as it is sometimes difficult to show items in person. DESCRIPTION:Our February meeting will be an in person meeting held at the Strawbale Barn in Atascadero\, from 10 am to 12pm. \nThis will be a hands-on\, “Pin-Weaving with Beads” program. This technique is perfect for making delightful necklaces and other woven jewelry.  For more info\, click here \nSome supplies will be provided\, but bring the following items if you have them: \n\nA few yards of cotton\, wool or rayon thread in a few coordinating colors – thread about the size of 5/2 or 10/2 cotton works well; as does embroidery floss. Thrums are perfect for this!\nA metal kitchen fork – this will be used as a beater.\nA few medium size beads that work with your thread colors – Optional: a few small decorative bits to be used as “finials”.\nA very small crochet hook – one that will go through the holes in your beads.\nOne or two large\, blunt needles – used to weave with.\nStraight pins – 30 or so should be enough.\nOptional: you may want to have colored pencils in your yarn colors.\n\nDon’t worry if you don’t have everything on the list\, most things can be shared. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring a lunch and stay a while longer to work on your project.  Show & Tell items are always welcome. \nFor more information\, contact Barby Wunsch.

DESCRIPTION:“FORAGING AT THE BEACH!”  We will meet in the parking lot for San Simeon Beach off Hwy 1\, at 10:00 AM.  Cari Curtis\, a local foraging expert\, will help us find and collect materials to use as natural dyes\, embellishments\, and weaving materials. She will share useful information and answer questions as we explore the beach and surrounding areas in search of unique materials. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a bag to collect items. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Holidays Together at our Annual All-Guild Holiday Meeting and Potluck \n\n\n(This meeting takes the place of Thursday and Saturday All Guild Meetings for December)\n\n\n\nSaturday\, December 9\, 10:00 – 2:00 at the SLO United Methodist Church\, 1515 Fredricks St. \nThe program will include  “Show & Tell”\, a STAR-making  project; a gift exchange\, and a potluck lunch. We also take up a collection for the Food Banks of SLO and Santa Barbara Counties. \nThis year\, members may sell weaving tools and gadgets.  Let D’Elin Lohr know that you are interested in selling your things at holiday party so that space can be allocated for you. \nBRING:   Show & Tell items\, a holiday potluck dish to share\, your place setting including handwoven placemat and/or napkin if you have them\, your check book or a little cash\, a  pair of full-size scissors and a 6 to 12” ruler for the STAR PROJECT. (Everything else will be provided)\, a modest wrapped gift (optional\, something handmade or useful to a weaver or spinner)

Shari is the owner of “Morro Fleece Works\,” in Morro Bay\, where she has been processing wool since 2002. Try your hand at glass weaving or make a small fused glass pendant\, each person will have the option to make up to three pieces! Bring jewelry pliers if you have them to break glass with\, no regular pliers as they have teeth. Becky will fire the pieces overnight for everyone.
